Power Plant's Project Overview
The power plant project is located at Village 2, Kampenh Commune, Stung Hav District in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia. It is planned to construct coal-fired power plant with an installed capacity of 945 MW (7 x 135 MW), 3 x 135 MW coal-fired units during phase I and 4 units during phase II.
The total investment of the first phase project, which has started from January 1st 2012, is 660 million USD. The unit #1 and unit #2 have separately put into the commercial operation on November 14th 2014 and March 19th 2015. Similarly, the unit #3 is scheduling to operate in December 2016.
The second phase project will be commissioned in 2017, at the same site.
The major components of each unit include a natural circulation steam drum boiler with superheater and single intermediate reheater, and single extraction condensing steam turbine which turns a generator to produce a net output of 120 MW, the output voltage of which is stepped up to 230 kV by main power transformers.
Common facilities in the power plant comprise:
- Switchyard to meter and export power to the grid
- Coal jetty with unloaders and conveyors, and coal storage yard and handling system
- Secondary fuel (diesel oil) storage tanks and pumping station
- Circulating water system using seawater for cooling
- Boiler water supply and water treatment system
- Boiler and turbine house, engineering and administration buildings
When completed, the first three units will produce approximately 3 billion kWh of electricity per year burning 2 million tons of coal, making C.I.I.D.G Erdos Hongjun Electric Power Co., Ltd. one of Cambodia's largest electricity generators to solve the electricity shortage in the country.
